Paiseando Edificio Coltejer ingles
It is one of the most important symbols of the city of Medellín, built on the site of the old Junín Theater, a work begun in 1968 and completed 4 years later, in 1972. Until 1977 it was the tallest building in Colombia and one of the the main ones in Latin America.
Its pointed design, with large windows located on its sides, according to popular culture, referred to the city's textile industry, as a tribute to the needle, a primary tool for making fabric garments.
Its 175 meters and its particular shape stand out from almost every view of the city. It is located in the center of Medellín on the corner of Avenida La Playa and Calle Junín, housing hundreds of offices of recognized companies in the region.
The manager of the textile factory at the time, Rodrigo Uribe Echavarría, was the one who requested the construction from the architect Raúl Fajardo, who was in charge of the work that is currently a mandatory step for both tourists and citizens. The Coltejer Building is considered an asset of cultural interest and is on the way to becoming an asset of heritage interest.
